  • 1 cup of stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons of butter

  • ¼ cup of chopped green onion
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Instructions

  • In a medium-sized pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Gradually stir in the grits, reduce the heat to low, and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • While the grits are cooking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the shrimp and Cajun seasoning, cooking until the shrimp turn pink, approximately 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer for a few minutes. Stir in the remaining butter and cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Once the grits are done, stir in the green onions, and season with salt and pepper. Serve topped with the creamy shrimp mixture.
