Ingredients
Scale
1 pound of ground beef or turkey
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup of ketchup
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of mustard
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1 bag of tortilla chips
1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
1/4 cup of sliced jalapeños
Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add your ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, using a spatula to break it into smaller pieces. This should take about 5–7 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt to enhance flavor.
Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for another 3–4 minutes until translucent. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
Mix in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, mustard, and chili powder. Stir everything well and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 5–10 minutes.
While the meat mixture is simmering, spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet. Ensure that they overlap slightly without being overcrowded.
Once the meat is ready, scoop generous portions onto the tortilla chips. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese and sliced jalapeños.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the nachos for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Once your nachos are out of the oven, garnish with fresh cilantro and additional jalapeños if desired. Serve immediately with sour cream or guacamole.
