Ingredients
Scale
4 large eggs
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of water
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 green onion, chopped
Red pepper flakes
Instructions
Start by placing your eggs in a saucepan and covering them with cold water. Ensure they’re submerged by about an inch. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and let the eggs cook for 6-8 minutes depending on how firm you want your yolks. For a creamier center, aim for around 6 minutes. Immediately after cooking, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, water, sugar, and sesame oil. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
After the eggs have cooled for about 5 minutes, gently tap them on a surface to crack the shell. Start peeling from the wider end. Rinse the eggs under cold water to remove any shell fragments.
Place the peeled eggs in the bowl with the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let the eggs marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to a few hours in the refrigerator.
Once marinated, slice the eggs in half and garnish them with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired. Enjoy!
